2010-02-03 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Coolpad has revealed to the local media that the first-phase project of its new mobile phone manufacturing base in Dongguan's Songshan Lake, Guangdong, has been put into production.

With the first phase capacity of 15 million mobile phones and an entire capacity of 40 million mobile phones, this project is expected to become the largest 3G mobile phone manufacturing base in China.

With total investments of over CNY500 million, Coolpad's new manufacturing base covers an area of 500 mu. It will be mainly engaged in the making of 3G mobile phones based on EVDO, TD-SCDMA, and WCDMA networks. Mobile phone parts and related products will also be made in this plant.

The company has completed the strategic layout of its four industrial and development geographical bases: as Coolpad's research and development headquarters, the Shenzhen base is mainly in charge of the company's overall development and innovation of technologies and products; the Dongguan Songshan Lake base is for 3G mobile phone manufacturing; the Beijing research institute is for software planning and development; and the Xi'an research institute is for development and application of wireless integrated terminals.
