China's Huawei To Provide WiMAX Network Equipment To Clearwire In U.S.

United States WiMax network operator Clearwire has announced that it has selected the Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies as its WiMAX network infrastructure provider.

Under the agreement signed between the two parties, Huawei will provide WiMAX wireless access network equipment to Clearwire to aid its deployment of nationwide super-fast mobile Internet services. The WiMax infrastructure provided by Huawei will include base stations, element management system components, and related network hardware and software.

Meanwhile, Clearwire said its other vendors, including Ciena, Cisco, DragonWave, Motorola, and Samsung, will also play strategic roles in this network deployment.
