2009-05-25 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

China Unicom has launched a user experience activity in Beijing to promote its new 3G business.

Before June 30, 2009, residents in Beijing can register via China Unicom's website and the company will randomly select 500 WCDMA experience users from these registered consumers. Users participating in this experience activity will have further opportunities to gain gifts, including customized mobile phones and recharge cards, if they complete service experience reports between August 1 and September 17, 2009.

China Unicom said that during their experience of the 3G services, users can submit advice and suggestions about the network and services through China Unicom's website or the 10010 customer service hotline. In addition, from May 17 to August 31, China Unicom will provide preferential charging policies to new users of its 3G network and the communication fees of these new users will be discounted by 50%, with exceptions to international roaming fees and international long-distance call fees.

So far, China Unicom has launched seven 3G packages, ranging from CNY186 to CNY1,686 per month.

By the end of the first quarter of 2009, the accumulated number of China Unicom's GSM network users had reached 137.692 million; the number of its local telephone users was 109.167 million; and the number of its broadband users was 32.614 million.
