Huawei Launches SNS Website In China

2009-05-11 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

Chinese telecommunications solutions provider Huawei has launched its social networking service website Aimi.com which targets Chinese white-collar netizens, marking Huawei's formal entry into the Internet business.

By looking at the settings of this website, Aimi.com's positioning is to satisfy the entertainment demands of its high-level users. The interface of Aimi.com is just like those of other popular community websites run by rivals like Oak Pacific Interactive and its functions include photo albums, blogs, group creation, and voting in polls.

The domain name information of the website shows that the domain name, which was registered in 2000, changed ownership in 2008 and it currently belongs to Huawei.

Huawei previously signed a CNY100 million network equipment service agreement with the Chinese SNS website 51.com in February 2009. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide a complete set of network services to 51.com to enhance the latter's network equipment and machine room construction. At that time, many industry insiders presciently said that it was Huawei's preparation for its entry into the Internet industry.
