China Mobile's Nanjing Branch Overcharges Users

2009-03-30 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

The Nanjing branch of China Mobile has reportedly been involved in illegal charges of up to CNY30 million.

According to local Chinese media, a national special audit of telecom costs arranged by the National Development and Reform Commission identified China Mobile's Nanjing branch as having overcharged consumers about CNY30 million between January 2007 and August 2008.

At the same time, an unnamed representative from China Mobile Nanjing has confirmed that they had been audited, but the person has said that they have not had any idea of the check results. There is no word yet how or if Chinese consumers will gain rebates.

China Mobile's 2008 annual report shows that the company's net profit in the year reached CNY112.8 billion, which ranks it top among all China's state-owned companies.
