After the world's IT giants Apple and Google launched their own respective handset operating systems, China's largest telecommunications operator China Mobile also expressed its intention to cooperate with handset manufacturers to develop handsets with a self-developed operating system.

According to information from Lenovo Mobile, the company has reached an in-depth agreement with China Mobile to launch the oPhone handsets, products based on China Mobile's operating system, in the first quarter of 2009.

A representative from Lenovo Mobile says that China Mobile's own open mobile system will focus on the mobile Internet function while integrating many of China Mobile's unique services to enable the future handsets to fit China Mobile's network and business to the largest extent, so as to occupy a top position in the future 3G market.
