China Mobile Releases TD-SCDMA Tender Results

China Mobile (CHL) has released the results for its second round TD-SCDMA tender, and Chinese manufacturer Datang is the largest winner with ZTE, Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks also gaining significant chunks of the deal.

The second round TD-SCDMA tender, with a scale 1.53 times that of the first round, involved 23,000 wireless base stations in 28 Chinese cities. In addition, China Mobile required that the system equipment be able to evolve to 3.5 gigabytes or above HSDPA and LTE through software and hardware upgrades. Eight companies, including Datang, ZTE, Huawei, Potevio, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, FiberHome and Postcom, participated in the tender.

Of these companies, local media reports that Datang Mobile, FiberHome and Postcom, which use equipment of Datang Mobile, gained 40% of the tender. ZTE gains about 25% to 28% share, Huawei gains 17% to 18%, Nokia Siemense Networks gains about 8%, Potevio gains about 6% and Ericsson gains about 4.5%.
