Ericsson Launches Self-developed TD-SCDMA Base Station

2008-08-27 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

Ericsson (ERIC) announced the launch of its self-developed TD-SCDMA NodeB product in a technology exhibition held in Beijing, making it the first foreign company that launched a base station with the Chinese-made TD-SCDMA technology.

At the same time, it makes Ericsson the only multinational telecommunications manufacturer that can provide end-to-end solutions, including core network, radio network controller, NodeB and open source software system, for the commercial applications of TD-SCDMA in the Middle Kingdom.

Based on the WCDMA base station platform of Ericsson, the TD-SCDMA base station adopts the remote radio unit technology, which enables the TD-SCDMA base station to realize site sharing with a GSM base station.

On May 19, 2005, Ericsson signed a strategic cooperative agreement with China's ZTE to jointly offer TD-SCDMA solutions. According to the agreement, Ericsson would integrate ZTE's TD-SCDMA NodeB products into the wireless network of Ericsson. As a part of the agreement, the two sides would also cooperate in the tests of China's TD-SCDMA projects.

Ericsson's statement is fake. The first TD-SCDMA base station self-developed by Siemens (based on BS240 platform) was demonstrated in the first field trial 2001/10/01 – 2002/02/28 in Beijing. For more details, please refer to http://www.td-tech.de
