Making Real Money With Broadband Networks

2008-08-11 | Print | Email Email

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (August 11, 2008) /China Newswire/ — Telcos today are facing margin pressures through more intense competition. ARPU erosion, customers churn and cost issues. Telcos are facing a new type of competitive threat from Internet players, such as Skype and Google, offering "over the top" services such as "free" Voice over IP. UNI Strategic is proudly to organize a workshop on Content and Applications in a VAS Era, which will be held on The Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 13th-14th October 2008.

In this environment, Telcos are at risk from becoming "dumb pipes", selling commodity flat-rate voice and bandwidth services and competing on price alone. To counter this threat, Telcos need to evolve their business model towards something that is evolutionary radical while maximizing their ROI investments.

While designing new business models, The Content & Applications in a VAS Era master class will discuss on how Telcos can leverage their network capabilities, such as mobility, messaging, location, presence, profile and call control, and combine these with internet-style services such as social networking, search, advertising, direct marketing and mapping, thereby enabling richer, more compelling and more personalized services that the internet players can offer. Furthermore, by exposing these capabilities in a secure, controlled and automated manger, Telecos can generate revenue from selling service enablers, as well as their own services, allowing them to fully exploit their network assets.

The course facilitator has been enriched from senior management positions in Marketing, Operations and Training and Strategic Communication Technologies. He has extensive experience in international Pharmaceutical and Cellular industries including Motorola Inc and Abbott Labs. He is a visiting lecturer at Wits and UCT Business School as well as the University of San Diego for Total Quality Management and Business Process Reengineering. He is a member of the Chartered institute of Marketing and the American Society for Quality. He is considered one of the leading authorities on Lean Six Sigma techniques. He is a speaker at various mobile telecommunications conference on wireless, broadband and telecommunications technologies and their impact on enterprises, operators and public sector.
