China Telecom Provides Free Telephone Cards To Travelers

2008-02-13 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

China Telecom (CHA) provided 100,000 telephone cards, each worth about CNY20 in face value, to people who were stopped from going home by the heavy snow in China prior to the Chinese New Year holiday.

China Telecom said since the heavy snow fell in most parts of China in mid January, the company has been trying its best to ensure a smooth communications service, and it has been pressing on making 100,000 IP telephone cards with the face value of CNY20 each in coordination with China Population Welfare Foundation. China Telecom said it would give the cards to migrant workers.

From February 4, the 100,000 cards were sent to such provinces as Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Guizhou, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Sichuan that have suffered the most from the snowstorm to help people who are stopped from going home to be with their families.
