China Netcom Signs Olympic Deal With Telstra

China Netcom has signed a cooperation agreement with Australian telecom service provider Telstra on the transmission of telecommunications services between China and Australia for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

According to the agreement, during the XXVIIII Olympiad period, China Netcom and Telstra will jointly provide services to Australian television Channel 7 and provide Olympics television signals to the Oceania region centered with Australia.

As long-term strategic partners, China Netcom and Telstra have already been cooperating in the communications sector, particularly on international services. By taking advantage of the relations with the enterprises and government departments as well as the alliance agreement with more than 250 global communication service providers, Telstra owns strong relations and worldwide support necessary for seamless communications service.
