Beijing Unicom has begun to provide communications services for concerned departments to help them increase their capacity and efficiency in serving the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Beijing Unicom has launched a CDMA service targeting different industries, including areas it calls Industry and Commerce New Space, City Management New Space and Traffic New Space.

According to a representative from Beijing Unicom, the Industry and Commerce New Space will enable the regulators to execute and collect evidence on site and report their punishment information to a higher authority immediately.

Beijing Unicom says it has also begun to use the CDMA network and application in the traffic field, which makes it possible for the traffic department to monitor the vehicles around the clock and helps to reduce traffic pressure and increase road safety.

Beijing Unicom's City Management New Space helps the city management department to find the position of its staff and better manage the infrastructure of the city.
