NDRC Creates Preferential Telecom Cost Policy For Rural Areas

2006-05-30 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

China' National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) says that it will hasten the adoption of preferential telecom cost policies for rural regions.

In recent years, the Chinese government has been working to ease the burden for farmers. Rural residents currently pay higher prices for electricity and telecom connectivity than those living in the cities.

By adopting nationwide standards for electricity and telecom fees, peasants will save about CNY42 billion a year.

NDRC has also disclosed that it will strictly regulate the education fees in the countryside and reasonably set the prices for using farmers' land that is bought for public use.
