Shanghai Initiates 159 Number Section

2006-04-10 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

Mobile phone numbers prefixed with 159 have come to Shanghai.

This new number section is becoming popular among mobile phone users who seek uniqueness and some of the numbers have been sold for more than CNY2000 each. The 13 prefix numbers are now only worth CNY50-CNY60.

A representative from Shanghai Mobile tells local media that the new number will be issued in accordance with the demand on the market.

Currently there are over 15 million mobile phone users in Shanghai. As the city has made good use of its number resources, it does not have a serious shortage of the numbers like some other regions of the country.
