Huawei Wins Guangdong Telecom IPTV Bid

Huawei has been formally notified by Guangdong Telecom that it has won the latter's IPTV project bid.

By winning this bid, Huawei has been authorized by Guangdong Telecom to provide live BTV, VOD, mobile TV, long distance education and instant communications to users in the most developed cities in the Zhujiang Delta Region including Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

The whole project is expected to cover 100,000 users in the said areas.

Huawei started IPTV preparations in early 1999. At present, it has more than 600 staff involved in IPTV research and development.
