Beijing Netcom Network Speed Expected To Dramatically Increase

Beijing Netcom and Shanghai Bell Alcatel have announced the formal launch of Beijing Netcom Broadband Comprehensive Service Transmission Network, the largest metropolitan network in China.

According to Ren Guangwei, deputy chief engineer of Beijing Netcom, after the opening of this network, the total capacity of Beijing Netcom's broadband subscribers will be increased by 1.5 times and 300,000 subscribers can simultaneously use the minimum 2M/second broadband service. Compared with the current 1M/second speed rate, the new network speed will reach as high as 8M/second.

Through this network, Beijing Netcom will be able to provide telecom level city broadband service, internet rental services, high-speed internet access service, O-VPN (Optical-Virtual Protocol Net), IPTV, BonD and SAN.
