China Netcom Investigates Counterfeit ADSL Accounts

2005-01-04 by ChinaWirelessNews.com Editor | Print | Email Email

China Netcom is responding to consumer complaints about the sale of fake ADSL accounts around China.

Local media report that some vendors are saying that their ADSL accounts cost only CNY1440 and are operational until 2008. However China Netcom says that ADSL accounts that cost CNY1440 are only operational for one year. Many consumers have apparently already purchased the counterfeit ADSL account cards.

According to a representative from China Netcom, the telecom company does indeed have free accounts, but these are only for the technicians to carry out tests for clients. These accounts are not meant to be sold. The representative says the company has already started investigating the situation and warns consumers to be wary when they purchase the accounts.
